Legal Aid Service to the poor

Since its inception, Manthan had the services of professional lawyers who took up the cases of the poor or gave legal advice to them at the village level. A professional lawyer, Lal Babu, after his studies, has been associated with Manthan since 1996.

Manthan’s area of operation for legal services covers the following blocks: Danapur, Maner, Bihta, Phulwari Shariff and Masuadi.People from poor and marginalized communities come to Manthan to seek legal help.

Through the legal aid services of Manthan, the government machinery has been brought to accountability in many areas: poor patients got admitted to reluctant government hospitals for treatment, food supplies have been made available to the poor through PDS, cases of exploitation of women have been registered and hundreds of cases have been fought and justice been granted to the poor and marginalized people.

Legal education of the poor has been a primary concern of Manthan.
