ESP is a people’s movement - by the people for the people. It is an attempt to empower the people to fight for their rights and become aware of their duties and consequently responsible citizens.

It is also a platform for the young and the emerging leaders in the Dalit villages to develop the leadership quality and take the community forward.  They identify the problems, issues and its solutions in the village.

Features

  • ESP operates in 20 pockets of 35 village of Danapur, Bihta and Phulwari Sharif blocks of Patna District.

  • There are 60 trained community leaders and second line leadership is being prepared in which 80 leaders are now active.

  • These leaders are trained in various issues and their capacity is built in order to face the challenges from within and outside. They are given more awareness on their rights and responsibilities in the society.

  • They are given exposure to the Government offices in order to avail the various schemes for their community.

  • This program has one Campaign Facilitator and another Capacity Builder to help the people to achieve their goals and objectives.

 

Goal: Marginalized groups receive the full state social benefits to which they are entitled and local, state and national level government institutions become more inclusive and democratic.

 

 

Objectives

  1. The access to social security benefits has improved significantly for the marginalized groups in the targeted communities and human rights, as they are enshrined as fundamental rights in the Constitution of India, are more respected.

  2.  At least 90 local society organisations in 12 states, together with communities and community leaders, are successfully advocating on district and state level for better access to social security benefits and the protection and promotion of people’s rights over land and food.

  3. The ESP network is strengthened and ESP partner organisations have successfully promoted collaboration among civil society organisations at national level for policy dialogue and campaigning.
